I am really resisting the whole goal setting process this year. One of the lessons I learned in 2011 was to take one day at a time. During the grieving process focusing too much on the past or the future could make me anxious, worried or afraid. I had to stay focused in the present, taking one day at a time, or one moment at a time. I had to learn to surrender. That lesson took me awhile! So to set traditional goals, when this is another year of transition in my family, just doesn’t feel right.
Yet, there is something exciting about a new year, a fresh beginning. I noticed many people sharing about choosing a word for 2012. That sounded simple and more appealing for me.
The word that kept floating through my head was Light. Some of words associated with light are:
Luminous, illuminated, glimmer, radiant, shining, gentle, easy, mild, slender, carefree, clear, beacon
I would certainly like a gentle, easy, mild year! I am working towards a slender body after all those Christmas cookies and comfort food. No surprise for January! Light also reminds me of the divine light of God. And my new passion for photography is an art that uses light to create pictures. Most of all I like the sense of hope that light represents. The last two years of my life have felt heavy, dense and challenging. Lightness, radiance and gentleness feel good. It is time.
If you like the idea of choosing a word for 2012, please share! Then we can ask God and the angels to fill all your words and intentions with light for the year! Many blessings, Nancy
