What we choose to focus upon captures our attention. Photography is a wonderful teacher for me this way. In this wonderful, fabulous Slice of Life e-course I am taking, one of our lessons is focusing on hands. Darrah Parker says, “A person’s hands say so much about them. The length of their nails tells you something. The amount of wrinkles tells you something. They tell you what kind of work they do. No matter what a person’s face looks like, their hands will tell you the truth.”
It was so interesting to “focus” on my own hands. Have you ever thought about what your hands do for you? Me either. I recently met a little boy with severe cerebral palsy who has very little muscle control, including his hands. I have this whole new appreciation for all the things my hands do and the way they allow me to explore the world. My journey with hands today.
Holding my cup of lemon tea
Gently holding a wildflower
Picking a wild raspberry. It tastes like fresh sunshine.
Lucy wanted to show you her hand too.
Typing, photo editing and so much more
My husband’s hand…strong, just like him.
These words came to me:
Hands that reach
Hands that feel
Hands that hold
Textures to explore
Brows to touch
Lifting to be done
Tiny hands to hold dear
Hand to hand
Heart to heart.
Thank you hands! For this and so much more.
Blessings to you and your hands,
Nancy
